[Abstract]

Background: Epidermal growth factor receptor or HER-1/erbB-1 is a member of the trans-membrane receptor with tyrosine kinase activity, HER/erbB family, which plays important roles in regulating tumor proliferation, metastasis, invasion and DNA reparation. EGFR expresses in all of the normal epidermal cells, its over-expression, gene amplification and mutation are detected in many tumors. In an experimental model, we found that EGFR expression augmented with tumorigenicity increase, and the transformed phenotype could be reversed after transfection with an EGFR antisense RNA expressing vector. In order to find a new therapeutic manner for breast cancer, we exploited a recombinant EGFR antisense adenovirus, AdE5, and find it can increase the anti-tumor effect of ionizing radiation on breast cancer cells in vitro. Objective: To investigate the antitumor effects of recombinant EGFR antisense adenovirus (AdE5) plus radiation on breast cancer cells. Methods: Human EGFR cDNA fragment was subcloned in the opposite orientation to the cytomegaloviral promoter and inserted into an E1/E3-deleted type 5 adenoviral vector to obtain AdE5 construct which expresses EGFR antisense RNA. MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells were cultured in vitro and then injected s.c. into right flanks of nude mice. Two intra-tumoral injections of 100 ?l PBS buffer containing 10~9pfu of AdE5 or AdCO1 or PBS alone were practiced every other day, tumors were then irradiated 6Gy once using 6 MeV electronic ray. Effects of AdE5 on tumor growth, Ki-67 expression and MVD were evaluated. Results: AdE5 inhibited tumor growth, and the tumor relative growth index was decreased more severely when it was combined with ionizing radiation ascompared with other control groups (p

(AP) ? Most pre-Carnival street parties in Brazil are all about samba, but the moves on display at Sunday's Blocao parade were focused more on wagging and strategic sniffing than on fancy footwork.

Hundreds of decked-out dogs ? and a few brave cats ? got in on the Carnival fun at Rio de Janeiro's annual pet-friendly parade: Labradors in pink tutus or engineers' overalls cavorted with Maltese terriers with fairy wings, and poodles in superheros' capes sniffed sausage dogs dressed up as Salome, with sequin-covered harem pants.

Carnival is perhaps the defining moment in Brazilian life, and the annual Blocao ? a play on the word for street party, "bloco," and dog, or "cao" ? allows four-legged family members a chance to take part in the fun.

"The animal excitement is taking over Copacabana," said Blocao organizer Marco Antonio Toto as the parade's sound truck, topped by an enormous inflatable terrier, crawled its way down the seaside Atlantica Avenue. "The neighborhood of Copacabana has currently the most dog owners per square meter. It deserves this prestigious party. Our animals deserve this celebration."

Talent agent Ariane Raballo made the trip from Rio's sister city of Niteroi to parade with her two mini Yorkies dressed as Carmen Miranda, complete with cornucopias of tiny tropical fruits on their heads.

"We come every year," said Raballo, as Maia and Lady Kate strained at the leash to sniff the four-legged passers-by and posed coquettishly as parade-goers of the two-legged variety snapped photos with their iPhones. "They love it."

Spirits were high, and there was remarkably few fights: Gigantic Rhodesian ridgebacks romped with teacup poodles, and lumbering labs palled around with cocker spaniels. Leashes required constant detangling as new friends taking in each others' scent tied themselves in knots.

Even Kiko, a 3-year-old dachshund dressed as a hot-dog, was enjoying himself.

"Normally, he's not a very social dog, with humans or other dogs," said his owner, Denis Naiff, a psychology professor whose wife and daughter were sporting matching hamburger hats. "But he's really having fun. Must be the Carnival spirit."

The heat looked to have some of the dogs down, and some owners poured water into their pets' mouths to cool them down.

Eduardo Jonathan, a 31-year-old makeup artist dressed as Batman, said he was suffering under his rubber costume, though Batman Jr. his 5-year-old Yorkie, looked to be taking the heat in stride. The dog hammed it up for the TV cameras as Jonathan and a friend disguised as the Joker sweated off their facepaint.

Two men dressed as giant ticks looked even hotter. Their many-legged costumes were made out of synthetic fur, and both had removed their masks so as to avoid suffocation as they passed out fliers for an anti-parasite spray.

"I think the fact that the Blocao exists and that so many people are here with their pets shows that the attitudes toward animals are changing here," said Elisabeth Monetiro, a public servant attending with her two of her three rescue dogs. Three-year-old mutts Princesa and Juliette were dressed up as she-devils, complete with glowing red horn headbands.

"Finally, society is starting to understand that even if you don't like animals, you have to respect them," said Monteiro, who volunteers with an animal rights group.

London-based ceramist Mario d'Oliveira was using the occasion to make a different kind of point.

Holding an "invisible dog" on the end of a stiff wire leash, d'Oliveira approached passing children, who either laughed or nearly cried at his antics.

"You can tell a lot about people by how they react," he said. "An invisible dog is also quite a conversation piece, so you when you walk him, you end up making lots of new friends."

Helpful Small Business Leadership ? What Does It Involve ...

Though people often associate business leadership with large businesses, small businesses need compelling leaders also. If you own a small business, you have to accept the responsibility for effectively leading the small number of people that you have. This article will have a look at what?s presently involved in being a small business executive.

Each leader needs to possess the attribute of vision, whether they lead a very small or a very large organization. In other words, you know precisely what your business is trying to do and how you would like it to advance down the road. In your position of leader, you must be sure that all your people are familiar with this vision. Obviously, you need to monitor what goes on day to day, but it?s crucial that you keep your vision for the future in the forefront of your everyday thinking. You can keep people informed about this through group meetings, in advertising materials and by the method you use for establishing your organization?s priorities. To illustrate, if you wish to increase the size of your organization by 100% within the next five years, ensure that all your efforts are pointing toward this goal.

An owner of a small business should keep his or her pulse on the everyday routines of the business. Although you have to learn how to hand over tasks, you still need to set a good example by working very hard. Optimally, a leader leads by example; therefore, you have to work very hard in the business if you want your staff to do the same. For example, your staff will not be wanting to get to work promptly and give you all they?ve got if you?re always coming in late or leaving early yourself. Being passionate and dedicated can be catching, so the more your workers see these attributes in you the more likely they will be to experience the same thing.

If you would like set a strong example as a small business leader, you need to be good at overcoming obstacles. This is one of the defining characteristics of a good leader, and it?s something you can get better at if you put your mind to it. Many people stop trying very easily, and when they come across a problem or obstacle they think the task can?t be done. As a leader, you need to be resourceful and driven to find a Plan B when Plan A fails to work out. A good leader motivates the people around him to be problem solvers who don?t give up until they?ve exhausted every possibility. The more you can do this yourself, the more your employees will be willing to do the very same.

As a small business owner, you should never undervalue the importance of providing strong leadership for your company. Because this is your business, you have no one else to blame or turn to when things fail, so you have to take complete responsibility for everything. This includes establishing the type of environment that helps your business attain its objectives.

Tony Sachs: Candy? Flowers? Feh! New Spirits To Wow Your ...

I love the excitement that comes with trying a new spirit for the first time. How does this whiskey compare to my old favorites? How is this new liqueur different from all the other ones on the market? What's going to make people drink this new gin? It's a thrill to figure it all out, with my taste buds as my guide.

Only problem is, the assortment of spirits that have crossed my desk in the last few months are pretty random -- what's going to make anyone apart from the hardiest spirits geek want to read about two Scotches, a couple of brandies, a bourbon, a vodka, and a pair of liqueurs? Well, I've found from experience that, when in doubt, it never hurts to look to the calendar for some thematic unity. Write about a dozen grappas and who cares? But write about the best grappas to drink for Arbor Day and you've got a hot and timely piece on your hands.

Since it's February, I had three possible tie-ins. Black History Month? Figuring out which spirit would have been tastiest on the March to Selma or along the Underground Railroad felt a little... unseemly. Presidents' Day? An interesting idea, but I got bogged down trying to figure out if Patron's XO Cafe Dark Cocoa was the Chester Arthur or the Franklin Pierce of liqueurs.

Which left Valentine's Day. Certainly a well-made, well-chosen spirit, in cocktail form or otherwise, can be quite the aphrodisiac. Cocktails, sipping spirits, after-dinner liqueurs, all can set the stage for an evening of amour. And if you're alone and miserable on V-Day, there's nothing like some booze -- high quality or otherwise -- to help you forget your troubles.

So forget champagne. Sure it's romantic, but a good Scotch, or a really well-made cura?ao, is sexy. This year, on this very special Hallmark holiday, you lovers need to wow your mates with the latest spirits the world of alcohol has to offer. If drink be the food of love, then bottoms up, baby!

COURVOISIER C COGNAC (40% alcohol by volume, age not stated, $35 suggested retail price). You kids today! Back when my liver was knee-high to a grasshopper, cognac was something sipped in elegant snifters in stodgy mens clubs, or paired with a fine cigar after a nine-course dinner at your country estate. Nowadays it's a party drink, to be quaffed during a night out at the club. Which I suppose is why Courvoisier helpfully included a flask when they sent me their latest expression, C By Courvoisier -- it can be difficult to dance while holding a 750ml bottle. As for the contents of the bottle, the small-batch cognac is double-barrel aged, meaning it's first aged in younger barrels and then in older ones, to give both an intense and well-rounded flavor. And it's meant to be served chilled. Chilled?! Purists need not bother. But if you lay your preconceptions aside it's definitely better than Grey Goose or Captain Morgan or any of those other party-type spirits. It's quite mild for a cognac, with notes of orange peel and bread tempering the woodiness, and surprisingly little alcoholic burn on the finish. For Valentine's Day, ditch the flask and break out the snifters for a night of amour.

THE GLENROTHES EDITORS CASK SCOTCH WHISKY (57% ABV, aged 15 years, $375). What better way to score good reviews for your whisky than to have a group of journalists taste and select the best casks for bottling? Journalists being an opinionated bunch, they couldn't choose just one, so they settled on two -- one for Eruope and one for the USA and, oddly enough, Taiwan. The American/Taiwanese selection was laid down in 1995 and is limited to a mere 264 bottles. On the nose, it's got notes of oak, sherry, chocolate and orange peel. Because it's 57% alcohol, it's a little overwhelming taken neat, but add a few drops of water and the magic happens, with wood, dried fruit, dark chocolate and coffee flavors harmonizing like the Four Freshmen. This is a rich, smooth and utterly gorgeous whisky -- and I didn't even help select the stuff. Ladies, serve this to your men after dinner on Valentine's Day and remind him of it the next time you want to see a chick flick. Gents, if you think Scotch is too manly for a romantic evening, think again. And single folks of both sexes, make Editors Cask your companion for the evening and you'll have a better time than most of us who have dates.

HARVEST SPIRITS RARE PEAR BRANDY (40% ABV, aged 2 years, $32). If you're like me, you probably don't think about drinking something like pear brandy very often, if at all. But try the astoundingly good Rare Pear and I'll bet you think about it -- and drink it -- a lot more. Introduced in October by New York State's own Harvest Spirits, Rare Pear is their standard un-aged pear brandy (also available and also excellent) aged for two years in new American oak barrels. Pear brandies are hardly ever aged, hence the "rare" in the name. The result is a dry, understated and altogether elegant blend of pear and wood. Cuddle up with your honey, a pair of snifters and a bottle of Rare Pear by a warm fire after a delicious Valentine's Day meal. Although I'll bet it would also taste pretty good as an aperitif, or with a meal in place of white wine, or as a mid-morning snack... you name it. Supplies are extremely limited and I'm not sure of its availability outside New York, but a long weekend upstate could be tres romantique!

MONKEY SHOULDER BATCH 27 BLENDED MALT SCOTCH WHISKY (43% ABV, age not stated, $26). Scotch lovers generally turn up their noses at blends, with a few exceptions. Monkey Shoulder, blended by the legendary malt master David Stewart (who's responsible for amazing single malts by the Balvenie, among others), is one of the exceptions. It isn't exactly new, having been a popular blended Scotch across the pond for several years. But it's making its overdue Stateside debut, and that's cause for celebration. Monkey Shoulder is a blend of three Speyside malts -- after aging in used bourbon barrels, Stewart selects the 27 best barrels of the bunch and ages them further until he deems them bottle-worthy. Gents, if you've ever wanted to turn your ladies on to Scotch, this is the one. Deliciously sweet, smooth and rich, redolent of vanilla and toffee with just a touch of spice, it's her dream man come to life in a glass. And the three monkeys on the bottle are super cute! But if you're a self-respecting man, I'd draw the line at some of the cocktail recipes on Monkey Shoulder's website. The "Monkey Mojito"? People, that's just wrong.

PATRON XO CAFE DARK COCOA COFFEE LIQUEUR (30% ABV, $30). Patron's gotten a bad rap among tequila heads in recent years, and some may say it's deserved. Me, I've still got a soft spot for the brand, dating back to its '90s heyday, when Patron broke me out of Cuervo Gold prison and made me realize how wonderful well-made tequila can be. So I may be biased, but I would like this sweet, rich dessert-in-a-glass no matter who made it. It's supposed to be a combo of coffee and cocoa flavors, but the chocolate seems much more predominant, with the coffee lending just enough bitterness to balance out the sweetness of the chocolate. And don't forget the tequila, which plays a minor role but is definitely in the mix. Nice for sipping on its own, excellent for mixing with milk for an adult milkshake, and great for pouring over vanilla ice cream for a quick and easy V-Day dessert.

PIERRE-FERRAND DRY CURACAO ANCIENNE METHODE (40% ABV, $30). What's the difference between triple sec and cura?ao, apart from the squiggly "c"? I'm not sure if anyone really truly knows what distinguishes these orange liqueurs -- although feel free to tell me in the Comments section if you think you do! But I do know that cura?ao, before it was cheapened, bastardized and colored electric blue by some enterprising marketing team that's now rotting in hell, was an essential ingredient for many 19th century cocktails. Pierre-Ferrand, in conjunction with spirits historian/deity David Wondrich, reaches back to those halcyon days with their new Dry Cura?ao, created so that Jerry Thomas and his ilk would recognize it. Like Grand Marnier (and unlike almost every other orange liqueur), it uses brandy as a base rather than neutral spirits, which gives it a much fuller and more complex flavor. But the botanicals and the Cura?ao orange peels themselves give deeper and more intense orange notes than Grand Marnier, making this liqueur perfect for use in classic cocktails like margaritas and (especially) mai tais. And if you think a mai tai is not a romantic drink, then you've clearly never had a well-made one. Just ask my wife, who gets weak in the knees at the sight of my mixing them up.

RANSOM SPIRITS/LOCAL WINE & SPIRITS' THE EXCHANGE VODKA (40% ABV, $32). I'm not a vodka guy in general. Neither is Tad Seestedt, the man behind Oregon's own Ransom Spirits. Regardless, The Exchange is his second go-'round with vodka. His first, The Vodka By Ransom, is so flavorful as to be iconoclastic, while this one, made in conjunction with Chicago's Local Wine & Spirits, is more traditional in its pursuit of odorless-colorless-flavorless. The neutral corn and rye spirits are filtered through a combination of limestone and charcoal which imparts a soft sweetness that's also heavy on the mineral notes. It's super-clean and well-balanced, one of those rare vodkas that tastes great neat. It also makes for a nifty martini with just a touch of vermouth and olive brine. After all, a martini is the perfect concoction to lubricate those lips for an old fashioned Valentine's Day pettin' party!

WOODFORD RESERVE DOUBLE OAKED BOURBON (45.2% ABV, age not stated, $50). OK, so this one won't be hitting your liquor store shelves until March, but Woodford Reserve's first permanent line extension in its history is worth celebrating Valentine's Day twice for. Not that there was anything wrong with Woodford Reserve's excellent whiskey, but Double Oaked is, to my taste buds, even better. The bourbon is aged twice, in two different oak barrels, both toasted and charred in a manner that's exclusively used for Double Oaked. The result is a product that tastes like classic Woodford Reserve but even fuller, and with the rough edges smoothed out. There's lots of woodiness to go with the notes of vanilla, dark fruits, banana, tobacco and cinnamon (to name a few), but the wood complements the other flavors rather than overwhelming them. A brilliant whiskey, and at $50, a good value as well. Love is in the air... or rather, in my glass.

motherhood and trucking

by Jamie
(Loveland, Colorado, USA)

Me and my husband are both going into trucking together, and that after trucking for 2-3 years having a baby, how can a husband and wife have a baby and be team truckers?

Is there any way to raise a baby on the road? Maybe who ever is resting can care for the baby and "home school" the child when they get older?

Are there trucks that have more than 1 bed or sleeper area that when the child gets older can have there own "room"?

Or my husband can do the 5 week drive and when he gets home then after his 5 days home i could drive for 5 weeks and back and forth?

please yahoo message me or email me at Jamie033184@yahoo.com

THANK YOU

Lifeasatrucker response:

Yes, there have been couples who home schooled their children in the truck while on the road.

Only couple who are very intentional about providing the child with the best learning experience should attempt this though.
Here is proof of what is possible.

Since you are planning ahead though you really can do that or plan for other options, like lower you expenses to minimum now. Run hard for those 3 years saving.

Plan for being home for a couple of years, then take the child on the road. Maybe even after 3 years of saving a local or regional job could be suitable for expenses and taking care of the family.

As far as the alternating week thing you can definitely drive like that if a company would work with you to do something like that. There again, since you are planning now, you could find one prior to the need.

You can get truck sleepers just about as fancy as you want to get them. I don't know for show about separate room but these people do. Watch the video

Saadi Gaddafi warns of uprising in Libya: TV (Reuters)

TRIPOLI (Reuters) ? Muammar Gaddafi's son Saadi warned on Friday of an imminent uprising in Libya, saying he was in regular contact with people in the country who were unhappy with the authorities put in place after the ousting and killing of his father.

Speaking to Al-Arabiya television by phone - the first time he has spoken publicly in months - Saadi said he wanted to return to Libya "at any minute" after escaping across the border to Niger when National Transitional Council forces captured the capital Tripoli in August.

He said he was in contact from Niger with the army, the militias, the NTC and other members of the Gaddafi family. It was impossible to verify where he was calling from as the station showed only an old still picture of Saadi as a backdrop to his words.

"First of all, it is not going to be an uprising limited to some areas. It will cover all the regions of the Jamahiriya and this uprising does exist and I am following and witnessing this as it grows bigger by the day," he said, referring to Libya.

"There will be a great uprising in the south, in the east, in the centre and in the west. All the regions of Libya will witness this new popular uprising."

A transitional government appointed in November is leading the country to elections in June but is struggling to restore services and impose order on myriad armed groups.

These groups fought hard in the campaign to topple Gaddafi but still refuse to hand in their weapons.

The government lost control of the former Gaddafi stronghold of Bani Walid last month after local people staged an armed revolt, posing the gravest challenge yet to the NTC's authority.

However elders in the desert city dismissed accusations they wanted to restore the late dictator's family to power or had any ambitions beyond their local area.

Saadi told Al-Arabiya: "The Libyan people should revolt against these militias and against this deteriorating situation. The NTC is not a legitimate body ... and is not in control of the militias," he added. "We call on all to be ready for the coming uprising."

"We have to exert pressure to change this situation and to remove this evil doing that exists in Libya. We do not know any such thing as elections. We are a Muslim nation," he said.

ANNIVERSARY

Government officials were not immediately available for comment. Mohammed al-Alagy, former interim justice minister and who now heads the human rights council, told Al-Arabiya Saadi's comments were "an attempt to drive a wedge between the Libyan people."

Saadi, a businessman and former professional footballer, said he was in contact with people in Libya. Interpol last year issued a "red notice" requesting member states to arrest Saadi with a view to extradition if they find him in their territory.

"I have daily communications with Libya from Niger and these contacts are not just to start the uprising but also to follow up the status of our tribes, our relatives and the people," he said.

"The situation of the people is deteriorating. I am in contact with the militias, the tribes, the NTC and the national army. I can confirm that more than 70 percent of those who are in Libya now whether they support the February 17th (revolution) or not, all are not satisfied with the situation and are ready to cooperate to change this situation."

Libya is preparing for the first anniversary of the start of the February 17 uprising which began in the eastern city of Benghazi. Libyan armed forces chief Yousef al-Mangoush this week said there were concerns for potential sabotage of the anniversary by Gaddafi loyalists.

"A large number of February 17th members do regret this and we are now in full cooperation with the February 17th and our supporters to change this deteriorating situation," Saadi said. "As for my return, yes I must return to Libya and this will happen at any minute. If I do return I will prevent any revenge."

Saadi said he was also in contact with his family members. Gaddafi's wife Safiya, his daughter Aisha and his sons Mohammed and Hannibal fled to Algeria in August. Saadi's brother Saif al-Islam was captured in the Sahara desert in November and is now being held in the town of Zintan.

"I am in contact with my family inside and outside Libya and in the neighboring countries and in Europe," Saadi said.

"I call on all the elders, the youth, the militias and the tribes to come and to sit with each other and to negotiate with each other and to come up with a true reconciliation."

Mexican authorities said in December they had uncovered and stopped an international plot to smuggle Saadi into the country using fake names and false papers.

Arts 2012-02-08 17:21:29 | the570.com Northeastern PA's ...

Growing up in a beauty salon with her mother and sisters gave Deborah Willis a positive self-image and comfort with her body from an early age. It wasn't until going through chemotherapy for breast cancer that she thought to address social notions of beauty. Aware that blacks had been underrepresented in similar projects in the past, she decided to focus her study on African American culture.

Supported by a book of more than 200 photographs, the exhibit arm of Willis' project Posing Beauty: African American Images from the 1890s to the Present opened at the Everhart Museum on Friday. On loan from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where Willis serves as a professor and chair of the photography department, it comes to Scranton from USC's Fisher Museum in Los Angeles and has previously been seen in Newark, NJ, Virginia, and Ontario, Canada.

The exhibit is split into three sections - Constructing a Pose, Body and Image, and Modeling Beauty & Beauty Contests. Its subjects include unknown models in street and studio photos from the earliest days of photography as well as famous historical and contemporary subjects like John Lee Hooker, Huey Newton, Serena Williams, and Denzel Washington.

The show is playfully accessible yet illuminates deep concepts such as "the way our contemporary understanding of beauty has been framed historically," the museum's executive director Cara Sutherland offered during a gallery tour last Thursday.

"We think of a photograph as a moment in time that's frozen forever. How did that person choose to be photographed, if it is a portrait, or how were they captured, if it was photojournalism or street photography?" she suggested.

Focusing on "person(s) behind the lens," Sutherland provided histories for the dozen or so photographers on display in the first of museum's three Maslow galleries. Primarily male, many of the artists got their start at age 10 or 11 and received accolades early.

Celebrity photographer Jeffrey Scales (www.jeffreyscales.com), for example, had access to The Black Panthers in Oakland and saw his photos published by Time magazine while only a teenager. It's Stephen Shames's (www.stephenshames.com) candid of Huey Newton, finding the Black Panther co-founder at home holding a copy of Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited, however, that's on display in Posing Beauty. Among the exhibit's female eyes are those of contemporary New York painter Mickalene Thomas, whose sexy depictions of African American women lounging in kitschy rooms recall '70s Blaxploitation and "explore notions of black female celebrity and identity while romanticizing ideas of femininity and power (Lehman Maupin gallery.)" Born in Portland, Oregon in 1953, artist Carrie Mae Weems is among the most acclaimed of the show's artists. After breaking out with social documentary grounded in storytelling in the late '70s through the '80s, Weems traveled to Africa in the early '90s. In notable demand via commission, her most recent works are fabric illustrations and multi media installations made possible with advancements in digital technology.

Posing Beauty will remain on display through April 1. Curator Deborah Willis and Carrie Mae Weems will participate in a public talk with the Everhart's curator Nezka Pfeifer on Thursday, March 22.

A student art exhibit downstairs in Gallery One titled Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder is a collaboration with the Ballina Arts Centre (BAC) in County Mayo Ireland and features 20 artworks by local students and 20 from Ireland. Asking students to create self-portraits considering what makes them beautiful, it will move to the BAC for display later this year.

Neuro linguistic programming techniques | Articles Cast

Many athletes don't innately realize their athletic potential. While a tiny share of total sportsmen are graced with natural, raw talent[**] the majority desires to spend time on developing and refining skills and capabilities. The simple fact of the matter is that if you believe in yourself and your capabilities, but haven't yet realized your full athletic potential, then you simply might have to dig down a bit deeper to demonstrate your athletic ability to the world. Leveraging the advantages of Neuro Linguistic Programming and sports hypnosis will help you to fuel your competitive performance.

Most commonly, sports psychology and sports hypnosis help to augment the performance levels of athletes. These concepts also function to aid mental coaching in order to indoctrinate players regarding how to conquer mental inhibitions and the way to overcome mind barriers. NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming, aids in programming a player?s unconscious mind. At a more express level,

NLP helps players to triumph over fears and negative feelings by working at a subconscious level to build portable talents in a player?s mind. If you're a hockey player that would rather set up a goal scorer with an ideal pass instead of having the responsibility of scoring in your hands, then your fear of missing a game-winning goal will haunt you both internally and outwardly. If a scenario in which you are in control of the puck in front of an open net pops up, then you'll buckle under stress due to the mental block that you have outlined for yourself. NLP can help to reverse this process.

Furthermore, NLP, with sports psychology and psychological training, enables athletes to reach more than what they think that they are really capable of achieving. By exploring and researching an individual player?s feelings, sentiments, angles, behaviours, and reactions, NLP can help to identify and address a stated player?s pre-conceived notions. From here,

NLP works to rehabilitate and remodel the player?s thought processes and mind-set so as to fuel the player into believing more obviously and with a sharper focus. Not only will NLP help teach a player how to cope with stress and exterminate fears, nonetheless it might also result in sounder sleep and raised energy. Each of these elements is important to driving the levels of your competitive performance. NLP will help you to realize your true potential and, through sports hypnosis, will raise your self-esteem and self belief while at the same time building and driving your competitive nature.

Leveraging the advantages of sports psychology, sports hypnosis, and Neuro Linguistic Programming can help any sportsman to overcome psychological inhibitions to successfully drive competitive performance levels. By focusing quickly, tackling psychological and physical fears, and conquering mental blocks, an athlete can develop a powerful sense of self belief while at the same time exuding confidence and experiencing assurance at a subconscious level. When you've regained faith in your abilities and can successfully project this thru your approach and energy, then you'll be ready to reach and transcend superior competitive performance levels.

99% A Separation

What a terrific film. At first, A Separation appears to be only about a difficult decision that ruins an already dissolving marriage; then, as the layers are peeled back, it becomes a compelling glimpse into a contemporary Persian culture, where class, religious and family stratification permeate throughout. It raises globally relevant questions about responsibility, the subjectivity and contingency of "telling the truth," and of how thin the line can be between inflexibility and pride -- especially with respect to Iranian men -- and selfishness and tyranny. The performances are top notch (led by Sareh Bayat), and director Asghar Farhadi does a great job of picking his spots -- at once, he composes uncomplicated compositions and sequences and let his actors loose, which leads to some of the most morally and psychologically complex character development in recent memory; and then he'll rigidly frame his shots and gracefully move the camera in an effort to inform the narrative. Also, his commitment to symbolism and a brisk editing pace would make even Hitchcock proud. In terms of plotting, the stakes are wisely established early on, and the rest of the film approaches the proceedings from every angle imaginable, making the viewer revere and loathe every character, sometimes in the same breath. Perhaps what I admired most about A Separation (and this is the edict of all Art House cinema) is how it gets so much out of so little. Shot mostly on hand held cameras, relatively crude cinematography, and nothing much in terms of production or art design -- but it doesn't matter, the core of the film is remarkably strong, and that's what counts, even in today's cinematic climate. It's minimalistic and economic, but it's also deeply affecting -- and, for my money, the best film of 2011.

Protests grip Cairo as pressure mounts for early vote (Reuters)

CAIRO (Reuters) ? An Egyptian government building was set on fire on Sunday as protests disrupted the heart of Cairo for a fourth day and public figures demanded a faster transition to civilian rule.

It was unclear who was behind the attack, shown by Egyptian television after midnight, with the state news agency blaming "unknown" arsonists.

The building is near the Cairo headquarters of the Interior Ministry, the focus of the latest wave of protests against the army-led government triggered by the deaths of 74 people in violence at a soccer stadium in Port Said on Wednesday.

Seven people have been killed in protests around the Interior Ministry since Thursday, with another five killed in demonstrations in Suez, a city east of Cairo.

Protesters and security forces clashed again on Saturday in Cairo despite efforts by some activists to halt the violence.

Youths threw rocks at police who fired tear gas to disperse them in bouts of violence throughout the day. The Interior Ministry said the police were trying to protect the building.

Protesters hold the Interior Ministry responsible for the deaths in Port Said. There has been intense speculation about the cause of the soccer stadium disaster, Egypt's worst.

Some believe remnants of the Mubarak regime triggered violence that caused a stampede, part of a plot to create chaos to reassert their influence. The interior minister has blamed the incident on provocations by rival fans.

The Port Said incident has heightened criticism of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, due to hand power to a new president at the end of June according to its own timetable.

Responding to one of Egypt's bloodiest weeks since Mubarak was toppled, the council said the country was going through "the most important and dangerous period" in its history.

A civilian council set up to advise the generals recommended on Saturday they bring forward preparations for presidential elections, a view echoed by a leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood, the biggest party in parliament.

"In view of the seriousness of the events, the carnage that happened, we cannot be silent, we cannot wait," said Mona Makram Ebeid, a council member. "It's a revolutionary plea."

"The advisory council will consider halting its meetings if the military council does not respond," Sherif Zahran, another member of the body, told Reuters.

Formal nominations for the presidency should be accepted starting February 23, according to the recommendation, nearly two months sooner than the April 15 date previously announced.

That could lead to an election as soon as April or May. The existing timetable states the generals will hand power to a president by the end of June. Officials had indicated the election would happen just before then.

Essam el-Erian, the deputy head of the Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, told Reuters the presidential election could be held in May, shaving a month off the interim period.

Russia, China veto U.N. draft backing Arab plan for Syria (Reuters)

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) ? Russia and China vetoed on Saturday a U.N. resolution that backed an Arab plan calling on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to quit, stalling global efforts to end his bloody crackdown on unrest after hundreds were reported killed in the city of Homs.

The high-level diplomatic setback came after world leaders and Syrian opposition activists accused Assad's forces of a massacre in a sustained shelling of Homs, the bloodiest episode in 11 months of upheaval in the pivotal Arab country.

Russia and China joined in a double veto of a Western- and Arab-driven resolution at the U.N. Security Council endorsing the Arab League plan for Assad to hand power to a deputy to make way for a transition towards democracy.

The other 13 council members voted for the resolution that would have said the council "fully supports" the League plan aimed at stopping Syria's bloodshed, whose sectarian overtones threaten stability in the wider Middle East region.

Russia complained that the draft resolution was an improper and biased attempt at "regime change" in Syria, which is Moscow's sole major Middle East ally, an important buyer of Russian arms exports and host to a Russian naval base.

With an eye to events in Homs, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice dispensed with the usual diplomatic courtesies and declared she was "disgusted" by the Russian-Chinese veto, adding that "any further bloodshed that flows will be on their hands".

Shortly before the Security Council voted, U.S. President Barack Obama denounced the "unspeakable assault" on Homs, demanded that Assad leave power immediately and called for U.N. action against Assad's "relentless brutality".

"Any government that brutalizes and massacres its people does not deserve to govern," Obama said.

He and other Western and Arab leaders exerted unprecedented pressure Russia to allow the Security Council to pass the Arab League-backed resolution that calls for Assad to relinquish his autocratic powers and end the violence. The U.N. says over 5,000 civilians have been killed.

SECOND VETO IN FOUR MONTHS

But Russia, and China following Moscow's lead, weighed in to torpedo U.N. action on Syria for the second time in four months. In October, they vetoed a European-drafted resolution condemning Syria and threatening it with possible sanctions.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said it had not been possible to work constructively with Russia ahead of the vote, even though military intervention in Syria - fiercely opposed by Moscow - had been absolutely ruled out.

"I thought that there might be some ways to bridge, even at this last moment, a few of the concerns that the Russians had. I offered to work in a constructive manner to do so. That has not been possible," she told reporters at a Munich conference.

Clinton warned that the risk of more bloodshed and civil war in Syria had risen after the collapse of the U.N. resolution.

The uprising pits Syria's majority Sunni Muslims against Assad's minority Alawites, an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam, who have dominated the country's power structure for decades.

After what U.S. officials called "vigorous" talks between Clinton and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Moscow announced that he and its foreign intelligence chief would fly to Syria on Tuesday to meet Assad, though the trip's goal was not given.

Moscow objected that the resolution contained steps against Assad, but not against his armed opponents, Lavrov said in Munich before the vote. "Unless you do it both ways, you are taking sides in a civil war."

In New York, Western delegations rejected what they called "wrecking amendments" by Russia to add language blaming the opposition along with the government for violence and diluting calls for Syria to withdraw its security forces from cities.

Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin denied that Moscow's amendments were last-minute, or that Russia was standing in the way of a peaceful resolution of the crisis.

"Some influential members of the international community, unfortunately, including those sitting around this table, from the very beginning of the Syrian process have been undermining the opportunity for a political settlement," Churkin said.

Syrian U.N. envoy Bashar Ja'afari criticized the resolution and its sponsors, which included Saudi Arabia and seven other Arab states, saying nations "that prevent women from attending a soccer match" had no right to preach democracy to Syria.

He also denied that Syrian forces killed hundreds of civilians in Homs, saying that "no sensible person" would launch such an attack the night before the Security Council was set to discuss his country.

Residents of Homs' battered Baba Amro district, speaking by telephone, denounced the Russian-Chinese veto, some chanting "Death, rather than disgrace".

One resident who identified himself as Sufyan said: "Now we will show Assad. We're coming, Damascus. Starting today we will show Assad what an armed gang is." Assad has called his opponents "armed gangs" and "terrorists" steered from abroad.

Mohammed Loulichki, the U.N. ambassador of Morocco, the sole Arab member of the 15-nation council, voiced his "great regret and disappointment" at the veto and said the Arabs had no intention of abandoning their plan. British envoy Mark Lyall Grant said there would be a new U.N. push if violence continued.

France called the Homs assault a "massacre" and a "crime against humanity". Turkey said hundreds had been killed and the United Nations must act. Tunisia expelled the Syrian ambassador, and the flag above its embassy was brought down.

Death tolls cited by activists and opposition groups ranged from 237 to 260, making the Homs attack the bloodiest so far in Assad's crackdown on protests and one of the deadliest episodes in the "Arab Spring" of revolts that have swept the region.

Residents said Syrian forces began shelling the Khalidiya neighbourhood at around 8 p.m. (1800 GMT) on Friday using artillery and mortars. They said at least 36 houses were completely destroyed with families inside.

"We were sitting inside our house when we started hearing the shelling. We felt shells were falling on our heads," said Waleed, a resident of Khalidiya.

"The morning has come and we have discovered more bodies, bodies are on the streets," he said. "Some are still under the rubble. Our movement is better but there is little we can do without ambulances and other things."

An activist in the neighborhood contacted by Reuters said: "We have dug out at least 100 bodies so far, they are placed in the two mosques." He put the total number of wounded at 500.

CONDEMNATION

Video footage on the Internet described as being from Homs showed at least eight bodies assembled in a room, one of them with the top half of its head blown off. A voice on the video said the bombardment was continuing as the footage was filmed.

As news of the violence spread, angry crowds of Syrians stormed their country's embassies in Cairo, London, Berlin and Kuwait and protested in other cities.

Syria denied shelling Homs and said the Internet video was staged. It is not possible to verify activist or state media reports as Syria restricts independent media access.

Syria's state news agency SANA quoted a "media source" as saying: "The corpses displayed by some channels of incitement are martyrs, citizens kidnapped, killed and photographed by armed terrorist groups as if they are victims of the supposed shelling."

The official Syrian account was disregarded across the globe, where international condemnation was thunderous.

French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe declared that "those responsible will have to answer for it" and, in remarks aimed at Moscow, said any country that blocked U.N. action would bear a "heavy responsibility in history."

The Syrian government says it is facing a foreign-backed insurgency and that most of the dead have been its troops. SANA reported funerals of 22 members of the security forces.

Some Syrian activists said the violence was triggered by a wave of army defections in Homs, a stronghold of protests.

Panetta report fuels concerns that Israel will attack Iran

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta now believes there's a strong possibility that Israel will attack Iran in an attempt to thwart Tehran's nuclear ambitions, according to U.S. officials. NBC's Richard Engel reports.

By Robert WindremNBC News

Concerns that Israel will attack Iran in an attempt to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons escalated Thursday when the Washington Post reported that Defense Secretary Leon Panetta believes there is a ?strong likelihood? that Tel Aviv will launch such an offensive in April, May or June.?

"No, I'm just not commenting," he said when asked about the report, adding, "What I think and what I view, I consider that to be an area that belongs to me and nobody else."

?

Panetta?s reported view has been echoed in recent interviews by NBC News with current and former U.S. and Israeli officials who have access to their countries? intelligence. Those officials, all of whom spoke to NBC News on background, estimated the odds of an Israeli attack on Iran as better than 50-50.

Most of the officials said it is highly unlikely that the war-weary U.S. would mount a military attack on Iran, instead relying on financial sanctions and diplomatic pressure to squeeze Tehran.?

Jacquelyn Martin / Pool via Getty Images

U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta speaks with reporters Thursday in Brussels, Belgium, after the conclusion of a day of meetings with fellow NATO defense officials.

But Israel, which has an openly hostile relationship with Iran and much more at stake if its neighbor becomes a nuclear power, is more of a wild card, say the officials, who come from a variety of intelligence and national security backgrounds. But the officials warn that, if intelligence indicated that Iran was on the verge of building a nuclear weapon, the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would almost certainly consider a military strike. And if it decided to launch one, the U.S. would likely receive very little advance notice, they say.?

Here, in question-and-answer format, is a summary of how the officials see such an attack unfolding:?

Q: What are the chances Israel attacks Iran?

?A: Officials agree the chances for an Israeli attack on Iran are at least 50-50, maybe higher. More than one former official has suggested the possibility is as high as 70 percent, but events can move that higher or lower. One said he is ?worried sick? about it.

??

Q: When might Israel attack??

A: Most of those questioned said the prospects of an Israeli attack will increase as the calendar moves into spring and summer.?

Q: What assets would Israel use?
?

A: Many of those interviewed claim Israel would launch a multi-pronged attack, using its fighter bombers as well as its Jericho missile force.

?

Israel has both medium and intermediate range Jerichos. The medium-range Jericho I would not have the range to reach many Iranian targets ?but the intermediate-range Jericho II?s, capable of hitting targets 1,500 miles away, would have no problem.? The Jerichos would be equipped with high explosives, not nuclear warheads. Asked if the Jericho would have the accuracy and the explosive power to take out a hardened bunker of the sort believed to be protecting Iran?s most-sensitive underground nuclear facilities, one official replied, ?You would be surprised at their accuracy? and that the high explosives involved is a special mix of chemical explosives that could conceivably penetrate the Iranian fortifications.

Missile attacks would be coordinated with fighter-bomber attacks (presumably? the Israelis? extended-range F-15I Strike Eaglet) as well as drone strikes. The fighter bombers would use what one official described as ??high-low, low-high? flight paths -- high first to increase fuel efficiency, then low for most of the trip to evade radar, then climbing high again as the weapons are released in what is known as a ?flip toss? on the target.? The Israelis would be prepared to lose aircraft if necessary, the officials said.?

The Israelis are not planning to use submarine-launched cruise missile force -- ?not enough of them,? one official said of the subs. (The Israelis have long had nuclear tipped sub-launched cruise missiles as part of their deterrent force.)

??

Q: How would other Middle Eastern states react??

A: U.S. officials believe that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates would support the attacks because of the threat Iran poses to them.

?

The Saudis and Emiratis, both of which have Sunni controlled governments, have repeatedly lobbied the U.S. to bomb the Iranian nuclear facilities, preferring a U.S. attack to an Israeli one. But because both are desperate to have someone take out the Iranian program, they also have shared information with the Israelis. If Israel did decide to attack, it?s likely Israeli jets would overfly Saudi territory and would even be allowed to perform aerial refueling. An attack would take at least two midair refuelings.

?

As for Turkey, it may not participate at the same level as the Sunni Arab Gulf states, but it is watching Iran closely. The U.S. fears Turkey would consider a nuclear weapons program if Iran obtained them and could develop nuclear weapons much more quickly than either Saudi Arabia or the UAE.

Q: Would there be a ground component?
?

A: Not in a traditional way. Some officials have suggested that Israeli commandos, either from the Israel Defense Forces or Mossad (or both), would be inserted on the ground near targets to illuminate them, gather post-strike forensics and perhaps grab some materials for later analysis.?

Q: What would Israel?s goal be?
?

A: Israel would not try to take out every Iranian nuclear facility but instead would target certain facilities it considers critical, hoping to set the program back. U.S. officials believe an attack could put the program back two to four years, Israelis estimate more like three to five. One official said the Israelis are prepared to ?do the same in two to four years? if the Iranian program recovers.??

?

Q: How successful might the attack be??

A: Iran has fortified its critical underground nuclear facilities with as much as 30 meters (nearly 100 feet) of reinforced concrete, including the centrifuge cascades at Natanz and Fordow outside Qom.? Israel however has dramatically improved its bunker-busting capability over the past three years.?

Israel is unlikely to bomb ?soft targets? within the Iranian nuclear program, including labs inside universities or near civilian centers, say U.S. officials. That?s because they are hoping that a clean strike would show that Israel only wants to take out nuclear facilities dear to the mullahs and Revolutionary Guards, both of whom who they believe to be wildly unpopular with the Iranian people.

?

Q: How might Iran respond??

A: As the New York Times reported Friday, the Israeli military intelligence assessment is that Iran?s military response to such an attack would be muted, in part because of its limited capability and in part because of it understands a massive attack would be met with massive response. Not everyone agrees with that assessment, noting that Iran has had years to plan out their response. The biggest fear is that Iran would unleash Hezbollah, which has between 42,000 and 48,000 missiles and rockets in southern Lebanon aimed at Israel. Even before any attack, officials in both Thailand and Azerbaijan say they have recently thwarted Hezbollah plots against?Israeli facilities.?

Israel understands that Hezbollah may respond on behalf of Iran following an attack and is prepared to go after Hezbollah ?and not stop at the Litani River (the northern limit of most previous Israeli attacks) this time nor limit its force to a brigade or two? as one U.S. official put it.? Another added that Israeli officials understand that ?Israeli blood, Jewish blood will certainly be spilled? in attacks around the world in the event of an attack.? And the response might not be immediate. One official noted that the Saudi Hezbollah attacks on Khobar Towers in 1996 took place months after the U.S. passed tighter sanctions against Iran.?

But another notes that the level of Hezbollah support for Iran in such a scenario is an enormously important ? and difficult -- question for both Israel and the U.S.? Hezbollah?s ?position is precarious, as Syria -- its main conduit for Iranian supplies ? is wracked by violence and its main focus has shifted to governance in Lebanon. Most officials think Hezbollah won?t be able to sit this one out, but few expect a massive response against Israel, which would engender a counterattack by Israeli forces.?

There are other possibilities.? One Iranian says to watch Dubai where 400,000 Iranian expatriates work.? Iranians could ?shut it down,? the official said.? All the officials note that Iran has had a long time to plan its response.?

One huge question is what the Iranians would do if they believed that the Saudis or Emiratis were helping Israel.? In that case, say U.S. officials, expect Iran to respond against the southern Gulf States and, if the attack is serious enough, expect the United States to move to protect the Saudi Kingdom in particular, expanding the theater of combat.??

?

Q: What is the worst-case scenario for the U.S.??

A: The worst case in case the Israelis attacked Iran would be if the Iranians judged the U.S. had been implicated or involved in the attack. Senior Iranian officials have in the past told NBC News that they would make no distinction between an Israeli attack and a U.S. attack. They see the two working hand-in-hand.?

If that happened, presumably the scope of Iran's retaliation would encompass the U.S. At the far end of the spectrum, they might go an ?embassy-a-day program, start blowing up U.S. missions in various cities,? said one former U.S. official. But another intelligence official said such a response would be highly unlikely, noting that even a single embassy attack would mean massive U.S. retaliation. The Iranians also could ?attack ships of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in the Gulf or U.S. allies on the Arab side of the Gulf, but either of these responses would likely prompt a U.S. military response aimed at toppling the regime in Tehran, the official said.?

?

Q: What about oil??

A: The price would spike immediately, going from around $100 a barrel now to ?between $200 and pick-a-number,? said one oil trader.? How quickly it would revert to lower levels would depend on how quickly the situation stabilized and how and where Iran would respond.? An attack on Saudi Arabia, for instance, would place the price target at close to that ?pick-a-number? scenario, the trader said.?

Even a $25 a barrel increase would have serious consequences for the recoveries in U.S., European and East Asian economies, particularly Japan.? ?It would be a game changer,? for the U.S. economy and the political season, said a U.S. official.??

?

Q: Why would Israel launch such an attack???

A: Putting aside Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?s inflammatory comments that Israel should be ?wiped off the face of the Earth? (which some Iranians claim privately was a mistranslation), some Israeli officials believe the continuous threat of an Iranian nuclear weapon would lead as many as 200,000 of their best and brightest citizens to leave for the United States and other Western nations. That is the ?existential threat? Israeli officials worry about, not that Iran could destroy Israel.

An Iranian nuclear weapon would give Israel a lot less latitude to respond to Iranian threats, the Israelis believe.???

?

Q: Beyond military considerations, what else might the Israelis take into account when timing of an attack??

A: It may seem cynical, but some in the Middle East think an attack could be timed to the U.S. presidential election. Some in Middle East believe that Israel might carry out an attack at the peak of the U.S. campaign in the belief that candidates and other elected officials in both parties would compete to show their support for Israel.

Compressors in refrigerators tend to be sealed units to keep the refrigerant gas from leaking out. Inside electrical insulation can breakdown in this environment and set up a small leakage current to ground. A regular outlet won't detect this but a GFCI will.

You might be tempted to say ok just plug it in non GFCI and done. The issues is as that leakage grows the current to ground increases. Ground in your home now becomes a current carrying path when it is intended to have no current in it. Worse still if the ground goes intermittent the metal case of the fridge could elevate in voltage creating a shock hazard.

Fix the fridge or trash it. I've read any fridge over 5-6 years old is terrible in efficiency compared to newer vintage. So perhaps an upgrade will pay for itself in energy savings.

First off refrigerators should be on their own circuit , and it's not a good idea to put one on a GFCI outlet. same with freezers, Best thing to do I contact an appliance repair man to check the fridge, if it checks out. Quick fix would be put the feed through on the line side of the GFCI, better fix run new circuit.

Arkan, why would it not be a good idea to have a refrigerator protected by a GFI? Refrigerators in commerical kitchen function just fine with the required GFI protection.

Are you concerned about leftovers or life safety?

i hear that alot, but why refrigerator should not be on the GFI cercuit?
it used to be just fine. sounds it may be cheaper to by new energy efficient refrigerator than to make a new circuit.

Doesn't have anything to do with life safety unless you spray your kitchen down with a hose it's just not necessary to protect a resi fridge with a GFI.

Just don't think it's necessary unless you spray your kitchen down with a hose especially in residential use.

If you have a properly grounded outlet and grounding system, there is no need for a refrigerator to be on a GFCI so long as the outlet is hidden behind the refrigerator and no one can plug anything else into it.

The grounded metal chassis would provide plenty of protection.

Now take something like a toaster in a kitchen. A kid could stick a knife in it and be shocked. A GFCI would protect the kid.

Or a hand mixer with a frayed cord. Someone could touch a bare wire.

The danger is with small appliances, especially handheld, which can be plugged into outlets. Those outlets should all be GFCI.

Another example is an electric range. No need for a GFCI. No one is going to plug anything else into that outlet.

yes, but if the refrigerator is the GFI is already there and refrigerator is connected, why should someone replace a GFI with non-GFI?
may be it is worth buying new refrigerator. seems like new refrigerator working properly should not be tripping GFI anyway.

I've always taken the side the fridge should be on a GFCI. The argument against it, the outlet is not accessible and if it has an accidental trip while you're away your food will go bad.

However, I take the side I've never seen anyone have "accidental" GFCI trips on todays fridges. If your fridge is tripping the GFCI there's more going on. Second, many fridges have an ice-maker. There's your means for a garden hose which, when it breaks can splash water all over the back and floor that you're standing in when you grab the fridge. Third, I don't have a recessed fridge and my wife puts all sorts of nice stuff on the top of it. All it takes is for a bottle to fall and smash/leak behind... now I have liquid that's spilled down the back wall where the recept is and a puddle underneath and trust me my wife would grab the metal fridge, pull it out, and then start cleaning the recept, wall, and fluid without shutting the breaker. I'd feel a whole lot happier if it were a GFCI. Anyway, there are those against it, and those for it. I'm of the latter.

The inspector cannot fail you for not installing something that is not required.

It's a bad idea to put a fridge on a GFIC because you could get a false trip....and all the stuff in the fridge could go bad. Not unusual for GFIC's to trip when there was a power failure and power cames back on. If your gone from the house...say for the weekend...there goes your food.

The following is the basic setup for outlets...

Counter tops....GFIC
Microwave on it's own outlet
Dishwasher and garbage disposal...own outlet....shared by both.
Laundry Room....own outlet...does not have to be GFIC
Garage outlets where the person can be standing on concrete or dirt....GFIC
You can have a single NON GFIC outlet in the garage for a fridge or freezer
Bedrooms AFIC
Bathroom...GFIC...and nothing else can be on it....
